Singaporean man executed for importing over 1kg of cannabis Convicted drug importer Omar Yacob Bamadhaj was hanged on April 16 for bringing 1,009.1g of cannabis into Singapore in July 2018. The 46-year-old Singaporean was convicted of the capital offence on Feb, 24, 2021. His conviction and sentence were upheld by the Court of Appeal on Oct 12, 2021. |

Small businesses form the foundation of Canada’s cannabis industry New figures from Statistics Canada show that more than seven years into legal cannabis, 51.4% of Canada’s cannabis retailers were small shops with one to four employees. All but two cannabis retailers are considered small businesses, which the agency defines as an enterprise with 1 to 99 paid employees. This is based on a count of 3,295 retail cannabis businesses with employees at the end of 2025. In addition to the 1,694 stores with 1-4 employees, there were another 1,066 with 5-9 employees. The federal agency also notes there are two large chain ”mega retailers” with 200 to 499 employees. |

Pre-rolls overtake flower as top-selling cannabis product in the US American cannabis consumers prefer pre-rolls over any other product. Continuing a years-long trend, pre-roll unit sales grew nearly 20% last year to become the most-sold cannabis product category in the United States, according to a new report from Renton, Washington-based packaging and manufacturing company Custom Cones USA. Pre-rolls generated $3.6 billion in sales, a nearly 10% increase from 2024, according to the report, based on numbers from cannabis analytics firm Headset. |
